Abstract

Infiltration is an important component in the hydrological cycle that determines the soil's ability to absorb rainwater. This study aims to assess the infiltration rate in various types of land use in Modongan Village, Sooko District, Mojokerto Regency, using the Horton method. The study location covers four land categories: agriculture, settlements, plantations, and industry, with a total of ten observation points. Measurements were carried out using a double ring infiltrometer according to SNI 7752:2012 standards. Infiltration rate data were analyzed using the Horton mathematical approach and mapped using ArcMap 10.7 software to determine its spatial distribution. The results showed that the highest infiltration rate was found in plantation land, having a very fast infiltration rate of 347.84 mm/hour, and the lowest in residential land, having a moderate infiltration rate of 21.85 mm/hour. This difference is influenced by vegetation conditions, soil structure, and the level of soil compaction due to human activities. Spatial mapping shows significant variations in infiltration rates between types of land use. These findings contribute to sustainable land use planning and water resource conservation, as well as serve as a reference for flood disaster mitigation and land degradation in the research area.
